Subunit exchange studies of wild-type and mutant αB-crystallin with αA-crystallin. αB-crystallin-350 (25 μg; wild-type/mutant) was used as the energy donor and 75 μg of αA-crystallin-488 was the energy acceptor. Ft/F0 represents the ratio of acceptor fluorescence intensity at given time intervals to the fluorescence intensity at zero time. The subunit exchange rate for wild-type αB-/αA-crystallin interaction was 11.06x10-4 sec-1, whereas for αBinvert-/αA-crystallin interaction, it was 5.98x10-4 sec-1.
