Genotype and allele frequencies of IL-1α (-889). Distribution of genotypes and allelic frequencies in primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) and controls. In POAG patients, the genotype IL-1α (-889) T/T was more frequent than in controls (5% versus 1%; p=0.04), whereas the C/T genotype was a trend overrepresented in the POAG group (32% versus 24%; p=0.08). The frequency of the IL-1α (-889) T allele was significantly increased in POAG group (21% versus 13%, p= 0.007).
