Effect of TGF-β1 on CTGF protein levels. A: Serum-starved HTM cells were treated with 5 ng/ml TGF-β1 for 4 h, and equal amounts of protein from the soluble cell lysates were examined for the changes in CTGF protein levels by immunoblot analysis. β-actin was probed in the same samples to confirm the loading equivalence for the protein. Two independent experiments showed a marginal increase in CTGF protein based on the densitometric analysis (B).
