Aβ42 was measured in vitreous samples obtained from patients with macular hole (Control) or proliferative diabetic retinopathy (Patient) by use of sensitive, specific enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), as described under Methods. Values are mean±SEM, n=6 (Control) and 10 (Patient). Sharp (#) indicates p<0.0001 for comparison to control (Student t-test).
