Overexpression of K6W-ubiquitin inhibits lens cell proliferation. HLEC were infected with empty adenovirus or adenovirus encoding K6W-ubiquitin. After infection for 24 h, the same number of cells were replated in each group (time zero). The cells were then collected 24 and 48 h later and the numbers of cells were counted. The data are the mean of 4 independent measurements; the error bars represent the SD. The asterisk indicates a p<0.05 for the comparison of cells infected with adenovirus encoding K6W-ubiquitin to cells infected with empty adenovirus.
