Representative time series showing the dynamic movement of TMRE (up to 5 μm/min, arrows) in epithelial cells. This movement appears to be multidirectional. Occasional branching of the mitochondria in lens epithelium is highlighted by a circle. This animation was reconstructed from 50 images of the lens epithelium that were taken from the same z-plane for 8 min.
