The Q155* mutation decreases the size of βB2-crystallin. FPLC size exclusion chromatography of 6xHis tagged Q155* and wild type βB2-crystallin was carried out on a superose-12 column. The untagged WT βB2-crystallin is included for comparison (black curve). The reference proteins bovine albumin (67 kDa), ovalbumin (52 kDa), and human recombinant γC-crystallin (21 kDa) are indicated on the upper x-axis.
