Table 1. Overall cell survival after 120 h in culture

All surviving cells (Calcein AM positive; TOTO3 negative) with and without neurites were counted. Analysis of five experiments demonstrates no significant differences in overall cell survival at 120 h, normalized to growth media alone although a trend towards increased survival was noted with BDNF, BMP2, and GDF8. To account for multiple comparisons, p<0.007 was considered significant. Using the number of live cells at the time of plating as the initial live number, the average survival with no additional growth factors was 44.0%±6.6%. There were 59 wells used for each sample.
