Figure 1. Effect of FN antisense oligo on FN expression in HTM cells

A: A representative western blot shows increased FN protein level in cells grown in high glucose medium (HG) compared to cells grown in normal medium (N). In cells grown in high glucose medium and transfected with antisense FN oligo (HG+AS-FN), FN expression was reduced compared to cells grown in high glucose medium. In cells grown in high glucose medium and transfected with random oligo (HG+Ran) FN protein level was unchanged compared to cells grown in high glucose medium. Actin protein levels demonstrate equal loading in each of the lanes in the western blot. B: A bar graph shows selective reduction of FN protein expression in cells transfected with AS-FN oligos. Data is presented as mean±standard deviation; the asterisk indicates a p value of <0.05 (n=5).
