B: HREC aggregate in medium supplemented with 1 mM H2O2, demonstrating that oxidative stress blocks sprouting. C: HREC aggregate grown in medium + 1 mM H2O2 in presence of catalase administered through an AnoporeTM filter (starting concentration in the upper compartment: 400 U/ml). The sprouts develop normally, showing that filter administered catalase can exert a protective effect on endothelial cells against oxidative stress induced injury. Phase contrast micrographs.
