The identified LCA alterations L954P and P858S are situated in the catalytic domain of the protein, and they are both in absolutely conserved amino-acids. Shown is a catalytic domain model of RetGC-1 [38,39], indicating the positions of Leu954 and Pro858. P858S is next to the dimerization domain, while L954P is in the center of an alpha helical loop.
