BDNF secreted by LC cells and/or ONH astrocytes could positively influence the secretion of NGF (green arrows) from neighboring LC cells and ONH astrocytes. In turn, secreted NGF could act on surrounding cells to decrease the secretion of BDNF (red lines), acting in a feedback loop fashion to regulate NT secretion within the LC. Also listed are other potential responses to NTs within the LC (black arrows).
