Figure 2. Molecular evidence for the expression of different components of NADPH Oxidase

RT-PCR analysis of mouse lens RNA (A) and PCR amplification of human lens cDNA (B) using sequence-specific oligonucleotide primers confirmed the expression of different components of NADPH oxidase. Expression of some of the cytosolic components (p40phox, p67phox, and Rac1) and membrane bound flavoprotein subunits (p22phox and p91 phox) of the NADPH-oxidase system was confirmed in both mouse and human lens. Interestingly, mouse lens also shows the expression of Rac2 (A) but not in human lens. Reactions lacking reverse transcriptase (-RT) were routinely run as negative controls in this study. M indicates 100 bps nucleotide marker in A and B.
